Iringa District Commissioner, Kheri James, has called on Police Ward Inspectors in the district to enhance community participation and engagement in designing and implementing security strategies.

He emphasized that involving citizens in planning is crucial for effectively managing safety initiatives at the grassroots level.

Speaking today during a special working session with Police Ward Inspectors, Comrade James underscored the importance of strengthening collaboration with the community to boost efficiency in law enforcement efforts.

The session was aimed at building the capacity of inspectors to ensure greater effectiveness in their roles.

The District Commissioner commended the public for their ongoing support of the police and urged inspectors to utilize this strong partnership by actively involving citizens in planning and coordinating security measures.

He noted that collaborative security frameworks, such as community policing, are vital for curbing crime in both urban neighborhoods and rural areas.

“Community policing and participatory security initiatives must remain well-structured and effectively managed. These approaches are among the most reliable methods for preventing crime and ensuring public safety,” he stated.

Comrade James also applauded the inspectors for their dedication and efforts in fostering public safety through community collaboration.

He reassured them of the government’s commitment to improving their working conditions to enhance productivity and morale.
