The Deputy Minister for Works, Engineer Godfrey Kasekenya, has instructed the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) to closely monitor contractors undertaking Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects to ensure they are completed to high standards and within the agreed timelines.
Engineer Kasekenya issued the directive today, January 11, 2025, during an inspection of ongoing development projects in Kigoma Region. These initiatives, implemented in collaboration with TANROADS and the district councils of Buhigwe, Manyovu, and Kibondo, aim to enhance infrastructure in education, health, water, and markets.
The projects include constructing a boarding school in Buhigwe, a bus terminal and market fence in Manyovu, water wells in Buhigwe and Manyovu, renovating Kasulu Hospital, and building hospitals in Makere and Kibondo.
“These projects are being supervised by TANROADS in partnership with the African Development Bank, which provided the necessary funding. The goal is to ensure the projects meet high-quality standards and are completed on time, enabling citizens to benefit from improved services,” stated Engineer Kasekenya.
He highlighted that CSR projects, funded by companies as part of their community support obligations, include constructing essential facilities such as water wells, schools, and hospitals. These initiatives are tied to ongoing road construction projects in the region, aiming to maximize the impact on community development.
TANROADS Kigoma Regional Manager, Engineer Narcis Choma, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment, assuring that TANROADS, in collaboration with the Buhigwe, Kibondo, and Manyovu district councils, would work diligently to ensure the successful and timely completion of all CSR projects.
