The Tanzania Bao Federation (SHIMBATA) has announced plans to establish a comprehensive league system, starting from district levels and progressing to regional competitions.
The initiative aims to identify and nurture talent for greater representation in upcoming international tournaments.
Speaking about the initiative, SHIMBATA executive member Sheikh Rashid Kayumbo emphasized that the league's primary objective is to select top players for the national team to compete on the global stage.
Kayumbo called on stakeholders, including President Samia Suluhu Hassan, to support the federation in realizing its ambitious plan.
“Last year, despite financial constraints and limited sponsorship, we successfully represented the nation internationally.
This year, we aspire to secure more resources to increase our participation and achieve even better results,” said Kayumbo.
He added that ongoing efforts to promote and develop the game are focused on ensuring a strong pool of talented players to represent Tanzania in future competitions.
