By Charles Mkoka

The Santa Mizawadi promotion concluded in style last week, bringing smiles to numerous winners across the country. Just as in the preceding weeks, those who answered their phones were delighted to learn they had won, wrapping up the four-week campaign on a celebratory note.

Among the standout winners were Mashala Saidi from Mwanza and Lucy from Mlandizi, both of whom received smart routers. As experienced internet users, the prizes came as a welcome surprise.

Lucy, a street vendor selling second-hand clothes, expressed her gratitude enthusiastically, saying, “I’m so happy because nowadays businesses are all about posting online. Thank you for making my life easier.” She plans to use the router to expand her online presence, ensuring her business thrives in the digital era.

Women dominated the winners’ list, claiming several significant prizes, including the coveted grand prize—a brand-new motorcycle and TZS 1,000,000 in cash.

Felix Nyagawa, a driver for a corporate company in Mikocheni near Mama Rwakatare’s church, emerged as one of the motorcycle winners.

Elated, Felix shared his excitement, stating, “They say not to pick up numbers unless they start with 100. I feel so happy. I had planned to own a motorcycle this year and had already researched prices and financing options. Truly, God is great.” Felix urged others to remain loyal to Airtel, praising the network for its excellent services and rewarding initiatives.

Another notable winner, Khadija Mohammed Hussein from Mwananyamala, received a 55-inch Smart TV while vacationing in Shinyanga. Overjoyed, she remarked, “I’ve never won anything before. I started the year on a good note. My TV at home is small, and I’ll be replacing it with this one.”

The promotion also brought unexpected surprises for winners like Sebastian Mnyika from Temeke, a fruit vendor who won TZS 1,000,000. Sebastian revealed his ambitious plans, saying, “I need about TZS 15 million to finish my house, and this win gets me closer.”

While many winners were quick to respond, some moments of suspense added intrigue to the promotion. Samiri Magayane answered the call but left the operator hanging, becoming unreachable afterward. Nonetheless, the promotion’s impact reached far and wide, touching diverse communities.

In the grand finale, Airtel awarded a brand-new motorcycle to a participant from the first draw, who traveled to the headquarters to collect their prize. Other winners of smartphones included Ezekiel from Same, Kilimanjaro, a farmer, and Ibrahim from Tandahimba, Mtwara, a priest. Both expressed gratitude for their new devices, with Ezekiel sharing plans to use the smartphone to modernize his farming practices, while Ibrahim described how it would aid him in his pastoral duties.

Jackson Mmbando, Airtel Tanzania’s Head of Communications, addressed journalists during the final draw, praising the promotion’s success. “We’ve witnessed the joy and excitement of our winners, and this promotion has truly brought the Christmas spirit to life across Tanzania,” he said.

Mmbando recounted how Airtel’s ambassador had been seen on the streets distributing various gifts throughout the campaign.

“Since the festive season began, we’ve given away smartphones, data WiFi routers, motorcycles, Smart TVs, and TZS 1 million in cash to winners across the country. The Santa Mizawadi promotion has demonstrated Airtel Tanzania’s love and appreciation for all Tanzanians,” he added.

As the campaign officially concluded, the diverse group of winners—from street vendors to farmers, drivers, businesspeople, and even clergy—highlighted Airtel’s ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

The Santa Mizawadi promotion not only celebrated the festive season but also reinforced Airtel Tanzania’s commitment to enriching the lives of its customers, leaving a lasting impression as it ended in high spirits.
