The Minister of Home Affairs, Innocent Bashungwa, has reiterated that the Police Force will uphold its constitutional duty to maintain security during political activities, regardless of party affiliation.

He applauded the Police Force for its professionalism in safeguarding all political parties during the recent Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Special General Assembly held in Dodoma and the CHADEMA Election General Assembly in Dar es Salaam.

Speaking during a working visit to the Police Force Headquarters in Dodoma on January 22, 2025, Bashungwa emphasized the importance of political parties voluntarily complying with the law to avoid enforcement measures.

"My expectation as the Minister of Home Affairs is that the impartiality demonstrated by the Police Force should be met with a corresponding responsibility from all political parties, including opposition parties. There can be no rights without responsibilities," he stated.

Bashungwa also directed the Police Force to strengthen its readiness to ensure the safety of citizens and their property during the upcoming 2025 General Elections for councilors, members of parliament, and the presidency. He underscored the need to preserve the country’s peace, security, and stability.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Camillus Wambura assured the public that the Police Force has developed comprehensive strategies to enhance security before, during, and after the elections, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining national stability.
