Police lead Dar es Salaam first division Basketball league

By Flora Mkoloma

The Police basketball team has taken the top spot in the Dar es Salaam First Division Basketball League, demonstrating exceptional form this season.

Currently, Police lead the standings with 28 points.

They are closely followed by Stein Warriors and Kurasini Heat, both with 25 points, separated by point difference.

Chang’ombe Boys hold the fourth position with 24 points, with all teams having played 14 matches so far.

Speaking to The Respondent Online, Haleluya Kavalambi, the Director of Technical Affairs and Competitions at the Dar es Salaam Regional Basketball Association (BD), commended the high level of competition, attributing it to thorough preparations by all participating teams.

“Each team has three matches left to complete the 17-game cycle, which will determine the quarterfinalists,” said Kavalambi.

“This phase will also decide promotion and retention for next season while we crown the league champion.

It’s a highly competitive league, making it tough to predict who will succeed,” he added.

The top two teams at the end of the season will earn promotion to the Dar es Salaam regional league next season.
