The Minister of Health,  Jenista Mhagama, visited four hospitals today to check their readiness to provide medical services for the Heads of State attending the upcoming Energy Conference in Dar es Salaam, which will take place from January 27 to 28, 2025.

The hospitals she visited are the National Hospital Muhimbili (MNH), Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI), Muhimbili Orthopedic Institute (MOI), and Aga Khan Hospital.

Hon. Mhagama was pleased with the hospitals' preparations. She said the hospitals are ready to provide specialized medical care if any leader or guest needs urgent treatment during the conference.

"This conference will bring leaders from different countries, energy experts, and international partners together. It’s very important that we ensure all guests receive quality healthcare if they need it. The government is fully prepared," she said.

The CEO of MNH, Prof. Mohamed Janabi, added that the hospital is well-prepared through its Emergency Medicine Department, which has specialists trained to handle urgent cases.

MNH will be the main hospital to care for the guests and will transfer them to other hospitals if needed.

The Energy Conference, with the theme Accelerating Access to Energy in Africa, is organized by the Government of Tanzania, the World Bank, and the African Development Bank.

It will be attended by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, the Presidents of 24 African countries, 21 representatives of African Heads of State, six heads of international organizations, five development partners, and 2,600 other participants from within and outside Tanzania.
