King Lucas Mwajobaga, a member of Tanzania's national boxing team, the "Black Rhino of Ngorongoro," delivered an impressive performance by defeating Liduema Elder from Angola in the opening semi-professional bout at the Solidarity & Fraternity Boxing Gala.

The event took place at the Ammar Dakhlaoui Indoor Arena in Tunis, Tunisia.

Competing in the Light Welterweight (63.5kg) category, King Lucas secured a resounding victory, earning a unanimous decision from all three judges.

Following his triumph, the boxer was awarded the prestigious African title belt.

In an interview with The Respondent Online, Tanzania Boxing Federation (BFT) President Lukelo Willilo attributed the victory to thorough preparation and the boxer's disciplined adherence to his coach’s guidance.

"The match was intense, with both fighters giving their all. However, our young champion fought with determination, ultimately securing the win against his opponent," Willilo said.

"This victory marks a strong start to the year, bringing honor to our nation on the international stage. The African title belt of Solidarity and Brotherhood is a fitting gift for President Samia Suluhu Hassan, from her soldier King Lucas."

King Lucas and his coach, Samwel Kapungu "Batman," are scheduled to begin their journey back to Tanzania today, Saturday, January 25, 2025.

They will travel aboard Turkish Airways, via Istanbul, Turkey, with an expected arrival in Dar es Salaam on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at 9 PM.
