Tanzania Mainland's Kilimanjaro Stars are gearing up for a high-stakes showdown against Kenya today in their second match of the Mapinduzi Cup, set to take place at Gombani Stadium on Pemba Island, Zanzibar.
The Stars will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing start to the tournament, having suffered a 1-0 defeat to Zanzibar Heroes in their opening game.
With no points on the board, today’s match is a must-win if they are to keep their hopes alive in the competition.
Kenya, on the other hand, comes into the encounter with a single point earned in a 1-1 draw against Burkina Faso yesterday. The team will also be pushing for a win to strengthen their position in the group standings.
Currently, Zanzibar Heroes lead the group with three points, while Kenya and Burkina Faso have one point each.
Tanzania sits at the bottom with no points, making this match crucial for their campaign.
The pressure is on for the Kilimanjaro Stars to turn their fortunes around and secure a much-needed victory.
