The government has announced plans to engage the National Sports Council (BMT) and the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) to initiate preparations for the national team ahead of the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The tournament, scheduled to take place from February 1-28, will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
During a visit to inspect sports facilities, the Minister of Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports, Prof. Palamagamba Kabudi, highlighted the importance of building a competitive and winning team for the championship.
“We have started with improving the infrastructure at the venues that will host the matches and training sessions.
The next step will be strategizing with BMT and TFF to ensure we prepare a team capable of bringing success in CHAN 2025,” said Prof. Kabudi.
The minister commended BMT for their ongoing efforts and urged them to intensify their work as the tournament approaches. He called for 24-hour dedication from the council and pledged his full support to ensure the event’s success.
Prof. Kabudi also expressed optimism that a strong performance in CHAN 2025 would set the stage for Tanzania’s success in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
“With professionalism and commitment, we can achieve remarkable results, ensuring we are fully prepared to excel in future tournaments,” he stated.
