Kilimanjaro Stars set to face Burkina Faso in Mapinduzi Cup final match

By Flora Mkoloma

The Kilimanjaro Stars will take on Burkina Faso today in their final match of the Mapinduzi Cup at Gombani Stadium in Pemba, Zanzibar.

With no points so far in the tournament, Kilimanjaro Stars aim to end on a positive note, while their opponents, Burkina Faso, are currently on four points.

Despite the team’s challenging start with two losses, Head Coach Ahmad Ally emphasized the importance of the match.

He noted that the primary objective of participating in the tournament was to provide valuable experience to the young players as part of their preparation for the upcoming U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and CHAN tournaments later this year.

“Our goal is to give these young players, many of whom have never had the chance to compete internationally, the exposure they need to develop.

This is all part of preparing the U20 squad and bolstering the CHAN team,” Ally explained.

Tanzania is set to participate in several prestigious competitions this year, including the U20 AFCON and CHAN, with Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda serving as hosts.
