The Minister of Health, Jenista Mhagama, today received a donation of medical equipment valued at TZS 125 million from the Government of China.
This donation will assist Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) in enhancing healthcare services and addressing key challenges in delivering quality health services to the public.
In her remarks during the handover ceremony, Mhagama emphasized that this donation marks the 60th anniversary of cooperation between Tanzania and China in the healthcare sector.
She expressed confidence that the partnership would continue to bring tangible benefits, including the ongoing deployment of medical experts and the provision of cutting-edge medical equipment, all of which will elevate the standard of healthcare services.
"I commend the leadership of Muhimbili National Hospital for its significant contribution in implementing this collaboration.
This donation will play a crucial role in improving healthcare delivery and ensuring positive outcomes for Tanzanian citizens," said Hon. Mhagama.
China’s Ambassador to Tanzania, Chen Mingjian, expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Health, MNH, and the Chinese medical team in Tanzania for their essential contributions to this long-standing partnership.
He also reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Tanzania’s healthcare sector.
Prof. Mohamed Janabi, Executive Director of Muhimbili National Hospital, also thanked the Government of China for the generous donation.
He called for further collaboration in developing human resources and introducing modern technology in the health sector.
“This partnership provides an invaluable opportunity for our doctors to receive advanced specialist training in China, which will enhance their skills and introduce them to modern medical techniques and technologies essential for improving healthcare services in Tanzania,” Prof. Janabi noted.
