The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing economic and social services, including immigration.

Speaking on January 11, 2025, after laying the foundation stone for the Immigration Office in Micheweni District, Pemba, Dr. Biteko said these efforts align with the Sixth Phase Government’s vision to accelerate national development.

The event was part of the celebrations marking 61 years of the Zanzibar Revolution, set to culminate on January 12, 2025.

Dr. Biteko highlighted that the progress made over six decades reflects the dedication of leaders such as the late Abeid Amani Karume and Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere.

He noted that constructing offices and staff residences for the Immigration Department demonstrates the government’s intent to improve working environments for better productivity.

Regional Commissioner for North Pemba, Salama Khatib, praised President Samia Suluhu Hassan for spearheading major development projects and fostering democracy.

She underscored the importance of citizens fostering unity to safeguard the nation’s security while celebrating the Revolution’s achievements.

He urged the Immigration Department to consider separating residential areas from office premises to enhance staff privacy.

Immigration Commissioner General Dr. Anna Makakala expressed gratitude to President Samia for her efforts in improving the welfare and working conditions of immigration officers over the past four years.
