Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko has conducted an inspection tour of the Government City in Mtumba, Dodoma, to assess the progress of the construction of the Prime Minister’s Office for Policy, Parliament, and Coordination, as well as the Ministry of Energy headquarters.
The projects have reached 88% completion. Commending the contractors for their progress, Dr. Biteko emphasized the importance of timely completion and directed that the buildings be finished before April 2025.
He noted that the government, under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, has disbursed over 90% of the required payments, which is sufficient to complete the work.
Dr. Biteko expressed confidence in SUMA JKT, urging them to expedite the process and deliver ahead of schedule.
During the visit, Colonel Mbaraka Magogo, the construction supervisor for the Prime Minister’s Office building from SUMA JKT, requested a three-month extension to ensure the project’s readiness for use by April 2025.
Meanwhile, Dr. Biteko also inspected the Ministry of Energy building, where he instructed the contractor, the National Housing Corporation (NHC), to accelerate the work to ensure it becomes operational before April this year.
Deputy Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office for Policy, Parliament, and Coordination, Hon. Ummy Nderiananga, expressed gratitude to Dr. Biteko for his guidance.
She pledged to closely monitor the projects to ensure they meet the set deadlines, highlighting the need for the office to serve as an example in achieving timely project delivery.
Additionally, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Felichesmi Mramba, reassured Dr. Biteko that funding for the project is progressing well.
He mentioned ongoing discussions with the Treasury to secure the remaining funds, adding that he had received confirmation from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance about the availability of the required resources.
