Dr. Biteko calls for curricula to align with technological advancements

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, has called on educational institutions, including the College of Business Education (CBE), to revise their curricula to meet the current global job market demands and address socio-economic needs. 

Speaking at CBE’s 60th-anniversary celebrations on January 21, 2025, Dr. Biteko emphasized the importance of integrating modern technologies and innovative learning methods to address global challenges.

Dr. Biteko stressed the need for institutions like CBE to focus on entrepreneurial training, equipping graduates with the skills needed to contribute to the national economy through innovative businesses and self-employment. 

He highlighted the role of middle-level educational institutions in bridging gaps in the labor market and fostering a self-reliant economy.

Furthermore, Dr. Biteko encouraged educational institutions to strengthen collaborations with the private sector to ensure that the training provided aligns with labor market demands. 

He noted that such partnerships would enhance the relevance of training programs while supporting the private sector through research and tailored learning solutions.

The Deputy Prime Minister also urged institutions to conduct in-depth research to address economic challenges, improve trade policies, and develop sustainable solutions. 

He called for inclusivity, emphasizing the government’s directive to ensure educational opportunities are accessible to women, youth, and persons with disabilities, thereby fostering broader participation in the national economy.

The Minister of Industry and Trade,Selemani Jafo, underscored CBE’s significance as a business hub in Tanzania, praising its efforts to establish international relationships with countries like China and Germany.

 He noted that CBE plays a key role in advancing commerce across all its campuses in the country.

Similarly, the Minister of Finance,Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba, applauded CBE for its substantial contributions to the growth of the financial sector. 

He commended President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for her visionary leadership, which has enabled significant achievements in the education and economic sectors.

On her part, CBE Rector Prof. Edda Lwoga highlighted the institution's efforts during its 60th-anniversary celebrations. 

She noted that CBE has provided business education to various societal groups and offered short-term training programs to business stakeholders, showcasing its commitment to addressing the country’s evolving business needs.
