The Tanzanian Ambassador to the Union of Comoros, His Excellency Saidi Yakubu, held a pivotal meeting with Comorian President Azali Assoumani on January 16, 2025, at the State House in Moroni.

The discussion centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation and setting strategic priorities for 2025.

Ambassador Yakubu extended heartfelt gratitude to President Azali and the Comorian government for their unwavering support in 2024.

He noted that this partnership enabled the Tanzanian Embassy to execute its responsibilities with remarkable efficiency.

Highlighting key milestones from May to December 2024, Ambassador Yakubu underscored the success of the inaugural Joint Permanent Commission meeting held in July 2024 in Dar es Salaam, during which several bilateral agreements were signed.

He also emphasized the coordination of a Business and Investment Forum, which brought together entrepreneurs from both nations to explore opportunities in agriculture, livestock, and transport.

Looking ahead to 2025, Ambassador Yakubu outlined the Embassy’s focus on deepening economic and social ties, attracting investment, and fostering stronger collaboration between the private sectors of Tanzania and Comoros.

He further stated Tanzania's readiness to supply Kiswahili teaching materials and resources, should the language be incorporated into Comoros’ national curriculum.

President Azali Assoumani lauded the Tanzanian Embassy’s efforts to advance cooperation, particularly in the economic and social spheres. He emphasized that these initiatives exemplify the strong bonds of kinship and partnership shared by the two nations.

The President called on the Embassy to intensify efforts to attract Tanzanian investors to establish ventures in Comoros, which would significantly contribute to the country’s development.

On Kiswahili, President Azali expressed enthusiasm for the language’s potential to bridge cultural and economic gaps between the two countries.

He affirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening ties with Tanzania, including promoting Kiswahili as a tool for enhancing trade and facilitating communication for Comorian citizens traveling to Tanzania.

The meeting between President Azali and Ambassador Yakubu reaffirmed Comoros’ determination to fortify its strategic partnership with Tanzania.

The dialogue highlighted opportunities for citizens of both nations to collaborate on development projects, share expertise, and drive progress across various sectors.
