The Attorney General, Hamza S. Johari, visited the birthplace and resting place of the Father of the Nation, the late Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere, and urged Tanzanians to visit this site to learn about the significant contributions made by the leader during his lifetime.
The Attorney General visited the grave of the Father of the Nation, located in Mwatongo Village, Butiama, Mara Region, on January 4, 2025, where he had the opportunity to meet and engage in discussions with the late Nyerere’s son, Mr. Madaraka Nyerere.
Speaking after the visit to the late Mwalimu Nyerere’s home, Johari stated that the site serves as an important lesson in understanding the nation’s history and the contributions of the Father of the Nation.
"We have seen the house built for him by the people’s army, and many other items that offer valuable lessons about Mwalimu Nyerere.
We have also visited the grave and prayed for him. I encourage other Tanzanians, if they get the chance to visit Mara, to come to Butiama to learn about his achievements during his lifetime," said Johari.
The Attorney General was accompanied by the Chief Legal Officer, Mr. Onorius Njole, and several members of the Management of the Attorney General's Office.
