Regions have been encouraged to bring boys and girls under the age of 17 to participate in the Beach Handball Bonanza scheduled for December 28, 2024, at Pweza Beach in Dar es Salaam.

Bruno Johnson, Chairperson of the Beach Commission under the Tanzania Handball Association (TAHA), stated that the main objective of the event is to select players who will join counterparts from Zanzibar to form the national team.

This national team will represent Tanzania in the Zone Five African Championship, which serves as a qualifier for the African Beach Handball Championship set to take place in Tunisia in February 2025.

“These Zone Five African Championship games in Zanzibar will determine the team that secures a spot in the continental championship in Tunisia,” said Johnson.

He emphasized the importance of adhering to the age requirements to ensure players can be registered with the African Handball Confederation in preparation for the competition.

As the host nation, Tanzania will welcome teams from Zone Five, which includes several African countries. Johnson highlighted that this is a significant opportunity for Tanzania to showcase its talent and build a strong beach handball team for future competitions.

Regions are urged to prepare their youth adequately to ensure the country fields a competitive team for the upcoming challenges, starting with the bonanza in Dar es Salaam.
