Stakeholders have been called upon to support the national U17 boys' and girls' beach handball teams as they prepare for the upcoming African Zone V Championship, set to take place in Zanzibar in February 2025.
This tournament serves as a qualifier for the U17 African Handball Championship, which will be held next year in Tunisia.
In an interview with The Respondent Online after completing the player selection process on the mainland, the team’s head coach, Moshi Ally, highlighted the importance of support in ensuring the success of the team’s preparations and participation.
"We require significant resources to ensure effective training and overall participation," said Ally. "This is the first time Tanzania is competing in beach handball as the host of the championship, so we appeal to you for support.
If the team performs well, it will be a source of pride for all Tanzanians."
Ally urged Tanzanians to place their trust in the team, expressing confidence in their potential to perform well at the tournament.
He also called for a shift in perspective, encouraging people to support beach handball in the same way football is widely backed in the country.
Regarding the team selection process, Ally shared that they have successfully identified talented players.
The names of the selected players will be submitted to the executive committee for review, while they await the final team roster from Zanzibar, after which the official training camp will begin.
