The 2024/2025 Tanzania Women’s Premier League (TWPL) officially kicked off today with matches held across five different stadiums.
Defending champions Simba Queens started strong with a commanding 3-0 victory over the Host Queens at the TFF Kigamboni Center.
Goals for Simba Queens were netted by Asha Rashid, Vivian Corazon, and Asha Djafari.
Meanwhile, JKT Queens secured an away win against Alliance Girls at the CCM Kirumba Stadium with a 3-1 scoreline.
Ratipha Mustafa scored for Alliance Girls, while Winfrida Gerald, Anna Katunzi, and Janeth Matulanga found the back of the net for JKT Queens.
In another game, Yanga Princess faced Bunda Queens at the Karume Musoma Stadium, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
Neema Paul scored for Yanga Princess, while Bunda Queens benefited from an own goal by Yanga Princess player Uzoamaka Igwe.
At Jamhuri Stadium, Fountain Gate Princess hosted Ceasian Queens in a thrilling match where Ceasian Queens emerged victorious with a 2-1 win.
Zainabu Dotto scored the only goal for Fountain Gate Princess, while Nyanyama John and Fatuma Mohamed scored for Ceasian Queens.
The final match of the day took place at the Major General Isamhyuo Stadium, where Mashujaa Queens hosted Gets Program. The game ended in a draw.
This opening round has set the tone for a highly competitive season, with all teams eager to perform well, win the championship, and secure spots in international competitions.
