The government, through the Geological Survey and Mining Institute of Tanzania (GST), is actively promoting its services, including geotechnical laboratory testing that assesses the strength and capability of rock, soil, and gravel samples for various infrastructure projects. These projects encompass all types of buildings, bridges, roads, dams, and both open-pit and underground mines.
This initiative is being showcased at the 7th National Technology and Investment Exhibition in the Mining Sector, currently taking place at Bombambili grounds in Geita.
Speaking at the event, Priscus Bernard, Marketing Manager at GST, highlighted that the laboratory is equipped with advanced technology that ensures high-quality testing of samples, enabling citizens to construct durable structures.
He further noted that this service can assist miners in various mines by safely evaluating the rock's strength to be used as support underground. Additionally, the laboratory services can help blast operators assess rock integrity before detonation in specific areas.
The National Technology and Investment Exhibition in the Mining Sector is centered around the theme, "Utilizing Appropriate Technology and Clean Energy for Sustainable Development.
