A team from the Manchester United Foundation, including over 30 participants, arrived in Tanzania today at Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) for an inspiring mission with a view to engage with local communities and conquer the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
The group will spend over seven days climbing Africa’s tallest mountain, reaching 5,895 meters above sea level.
Manchester United legend Bryan Robson, who has previously attempted the climb, joins the expedition to help promote tourism in Tanzania.
During their climb, the team will traverse diverse landscapes, from rainforests and moorlands to highland deserts and the arctic zone at Kilimanjaro’s peak.
Funds raised from the expedition will go towards educational and community outreach programs run by the Manchester United Foundation, benefiting underprivileged areas in Manchester.
For Tanzania, this high-profile climb presents a unique opportunity to spotlight the country’s tourism, with one of the world’s most famous football clubs showcasing its natural wonders.
