The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) has called on all individuals with complaints regarding services under its regulation to present their issues for resolution.
EWURA's Senior Public Relations Officer, Tobietha Makafu, made this announcement on October 9, 2024, in Dodoma, as she highlighted the Authority's preparedness to assist its stakeholders during this year's Customer Service Week, which began on October 7.
"For instance, if someone has built their house, paid for electricity or water installation services, but experiences significant delays in receiving the service, we urge them to bring their complaints to EWURA. We will ensure they get the service in accordance with legal procedures," she explained.
Makafu also emphasized that customers dissatisfied with their water bills or who encounter estimated meter readings instead of actual readings should report the issue to their water authority. If they do not receive a solution, they can approach EWURA, which will help resolve the issue.
Regarding fuel-related complaints, Makafu explained that if a person’s vehicle or equipment is damaged after refueling and the issue is not resolved at the fuel station, they should contact EWURA within seven days. Given that fuel products are sold quickly, it is crucial to report such cases promptly to allow EWURA’s experts to investigate before the fuel in question runs out, ensuring the customer’s rights are protected.
"At EWURA's headquarters, customers have had the opportunity to be served directly by the Director General, Dr. James Andilile, and directors from various departments. In regional offices, our staff have gone into the field to meet stakeholders. For example, in the Western Zone, we are providing services at Uyui Primary School grounds in Tabora, ensuring that anyone with a challenge can receive assistance," she emphasized.
Customer Service Week is an important event for EWURA, allowing the authority to serve its customers and stakeholders more effectively. EWURA remains committed to ensuring that every Tanzanian continues to receive high-quality services in electricity, fuel, natural gas, water, and sanitation. Customers are encouraged to take advantage of the week to access various services provided by EWURA.
