Earlier today, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) conducted the group stage draws for the 2024/2025 CAF Confederation Cup and Champions League in Cairo, Egypt.
The draw set the stage for the upcoming matches featuring Africa's top football clubs.
Tanzania will be represented by two major clubs: Simba SC in the CAF Confederation Cup and Yanga SC in the Champions League.
Simba SC was placed in Group A, alongside CS Sfaxien (Tunisia), CS Constantien (Algeria), and FC Bravos do Maquis (Angola).
Simba's campaign will kick off in November, with their first match scheduled at home against FC Bravos do Maquis from Angola.
Yanga SC, Tanzania's representative in the CAF Champions League, has been drawn into a competitive group alongside TP Mazembe (DR Congo), Al Hilal Omdurman (Sudan), and MC Alger (Algeria).
These Champions League group matches are also set to begin in November.
Both the Confederation Cup and the Champions League will see 32 teams divided into groups, with each group consisting of four teams.The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stages, reducing the competition to 16 teams.
The knockout phase will eventually crown the champions of Africa in each tournament.
The current holders of the CAF Champions League are Al Ahly of Egypt, while the reigning champions of the CAF Confederation Cup are Zamalek of Egypt.
Both teams are aiming to defend their titles, with Al Ahly competing in the Champions League and Zamalek in the Confederation Cup.
The draws mark the continuation of the 2024/2025 season, which began with preliminary rounds at the stage of 64 teams.
Now, with the group stages set, excitement builds for what promises to be a thrilling tournament season across Africa.
