In a heartfelt celebration, Tanzanian artists from various fields gathered at Leaders Club to commemorate the legacy of distinguished figures in film, music, media, and more. The event marked a special day dedicated to honoring these cultural icons.
Mzee Majuto’s fourth child, who serves as the family spokesperson, expressed profound gratitude for the recognition. "Our father held three roles: as a father, a friend, and a major artist in the country," he shared with deep emotion. "He never had conflicts or quarrels. As a family, we are left with a debt to repay."
He emphasized that Mzee Majuto nurtured many both domestically and internationally, and it is crucial to uphold his legacy with action and sincerity. He also extended thanks to Steve Nyerere for initiating this first-ever tribute and expressed optimism for future events.
Film star Yvonne Cherrie Monalisa took the stage to reflect on the impact of departed stars like Steven Kanumba and George Tyson. "I deeply miss them and regret the projects that were left unfinished," Monalisa noted. "The government, led by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, continues to support and nurture artists."

She further stressed the importance of creating a museum to showcase milestones in the arts, music, and film, ensuring the community can appreciate these achievements.
The event is set to be graced by a special guest, the Minister of Information, Communication, and Information Technology, Hon. Jerry Slaa, along with Gerson Msigwa, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Traditional, Arts and Sports, adding a touch of official recognition to the celebrations.
