Dar es Salaam. Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam Albaert Chalamila has launched a one-month fundraising campaign to collect Sh3 billion for the expansion and renovation of the Amana Referral Hospital.

The harambee campaign launched on July 5, 2024 to August, 31, 2024 aims to support the government’s efforts on improving health sector.

“The funds will facilitate the renovation and expansion of existing buildings and some old buildings will be demolished. This is to improve the Amana Referral Hospital’s efficiency,” he noted.

The grand-event will be held at Mount City Hall on August 31, 2024 where the invited guest of honor (not mentioned) will hand over the collected funds to the Amana hospital management.

The hospital's Chief Medical Officer Dr Kiwelu said the referral hospital’s facilities are too old and outdated, so the renovation is inevitable.

“The collected funds through the harambee, will be used to build new maternal and child care facility with more than 350 beds and a modern Administration building that contains a storage for all historical medical activities in Tanzania,” he noted.

The building will also have modern practical learning laboratories, classrooms, conference halls, offices, banking services, medical stores, a supermarket, a hotel.
