Tanzania’s national swimming team has finished third overall at the African Zone Three Swimming Championships in Uganda, winning 85 medals and eight trophies in a strong regional performance.

The 35-member team collected 24 gold, 29 silver and 32 bronze medals, underlining the country’s growing competitiveness in swimming and its ability to challenge other nations in the region.

Tanzania also secured third place in the open-water swimming category, adding to its overall medal haul at the championships.

In water polo, the country’s junior team also finished third, earning a trophy in the competition.

The performance across the three disciplines marks a positive showing for Tanzania, with the medal tally reflecting the team’s strength in both pool and open-water events.

The results also provide a boost to efforts to develop swimming and water polo in the country, particularly by giving young athletes opportunities to compete at regional and international levels.
