Young Africans (Yanga SC) veteran member and long-time supporter Haji Omari Ramadhani Mpili, popularly known as Mzee Mpili, has died at Ikwiriri District Health Centre in Pwani Region.
Mzee Mpili died on the night of September 27, 2026, while receiving medical treatment at the facility, according to a statement issued by Yanga on Monday.
His death has been met with sadness among his family, relatives, friends and members and supporters of the Jangwani-based club, where he was known as a long-serving member and supporter.
The club said it had received the news with sorrow and extended its condolences to the bereaved family, relatives and friends.
Mzee Mpili is scheduled to be buried today at 4pm at the Main Mosque Cemetery in Ikwiriri District, Pwani Region.
The club urged the bereaved family and all those affected by his death to remain strong during the difficult period.
