Tanzania has reaffirmed its support for reforms within the United Nations as Vice President Deogratius Ndejembi held talks with UN Secretary-General António Guterres in New York.
The meeting took place on September 25, 2026, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, with discussions focusing on UN reforms, international peace and security, and cooperation between Tanzania and the global body.
Mr Ndejembi congratulated Mr Guterres on his leadership and said Tanzania would continue supporting efforts aimed at strengthening reforms within the United Nations.
The Vice President also underscored the importance of continued international cooperation in addressing global challenges and promoting peace and security.
For his part, Mr Guterres commended Tanzania for its role as an important partner of the United Nations and recognised the country's contribution to efforts aimed at maintaining international peace and security.
The talks highlighted the longstanding cooperation between Tanzania and the United Nations, particularly in areas related to peace, security and multilateral cooperation.
