The Weights and Measures Agency (WMA) has intensified efforts to educate the public on the importance of accurate measurements as part of its commitment to protecting farmers, traders and consumers during the ongoing Nanenane National Agricultural Exhibition in Dodoma.
The campaign has attracted farmers, livestock keepers, fishermen, traders and other visitors who have been visiting the WMA pavilion to learn how proper measurement systems can improve fairness in trade and increase the value of agricultural products.
During the exhibition, WMA experts have been providing practical education on the use and verification of measuring equipment, while highlighting the risks associated with inaccurate measurements in the sale of seeds, farm inputs, milk, crops and other commodities.
The agency said the initiative is aimed at strengthening public understanding of measurement standards and ensuring that both producers and consumers receive fair value in commercial transactions.
“Through these education programmes, we want citizens to understand the importance of using verified measurement tools and reporting any challenges related to inaccurate measurements,” WMA officials said.
Visitors have also been given an opportunity to ask questions and receive guidance on the procedures involved in inspecting and approving measurement equipment, a process that supports transparency and confidence in the market.
WMA said it will continue offering free education services throughout the Nanenane exhibition as part of broader efforts to promote productivity, fair trade and support the implementation of Tanzania’s National Development Vision 2050.
The agency’s participation comes as the government continues to encourage improvements in agricultural productivity and market efficiency, with accurate measurements considered essential in ensuring farmers benefit from their hard work.
The theme of the 2026 Nanenane National Exhibition is “Recognise the Market; Increase Productivity to Implement Vision 2050.”
