Simba SC will be aiming to strengthen their NBC Premier League campaign when they face Singida Black Stars today at Airtel Stadium in Singida, with head coach Steve Barker insisting his side is ready to fight for maximum points.
The Dar es Salaam giants arrived in Singida on Friday and completed their final training session ahead of the highly anticipated encounter, with Barker saying the team’s preparations had gone according to plan.
Speaking to journalists on August 21, 2026, Barker said Simba’s immediate objective was to finish the weekend with a victory.
“We arrived safely yesterday and had a short rest before conducting our final training session this evening ahead of the match,” Barker said.
The English coach, however, cautioned his players against underestimating Singida Black Stars, describing them as a competitive side with the quality to make the match difficult.
“We know Singida are a good team, so we expect a tough game. We have prepared well and our focus is to secure the three points,” Barker said.
For Simba, the match presents an opportunity to turn their preparations into a positive result on the pitch, but they will have to overcome a Singida side determined to make the most of home advantage.
Speaking on behalf of the players, Simba defender Antony Mlingo acknowledged the challenge awaiting them but expressed confidence in the team’s ability to deliver.
“Singida are a difficult team with good players, but Simba are a big club and can play in any environment. Our target is to get all three points,” Mlingo said.
The encounter is expected to be closely contested, with both sides under pressure to produce a result as the NBC Premier League season gathers momentum.
