Yanga head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has urged his players to remain focused and avoid underestimating JKT Tanzania when the two sides meet in the NBC Premier League at KMC Complex tomorrow.
Mngqithi believes JKT Tanzania have the quality and potential to develop into a stronger side, making the encounter a game Yanga cannot afford to approach with complacency.
The South African coach identified several JKT Tanzania players who could cause problems for his team, including goalkeeper Ramadhan Chalamanda, Charles Illanfya “Chalo”, Pascal Musa, Rony and forwards Paul Peter and Maka Edward.
“We have no right to assume that we will get the result. We have to work hard and make sure we minimise our mistakes,” Mngqithi said.
His comments underline the competitive nature of the league, with Yanga expected to face a JKT Tanzania side determined to challenge them and make the most of opportunities created during the match.
JKT Tanzania head coach Ahmad Ally, on his part, praised Mngqithi’s experience and tactical ability, saying he is among the best coaches he has worked with in South Africa.
Ally said his familiarity with Mngqithi’s coaching philosophy gives him an understanding of how the Yanga coach wants his team to play, particularly in attack.
“He is a good coach and we worked with him for a long time in South Africa. Now he has come to Tanzania and we have seen that he has taken charge of a team that likes to play attacking football,” Ally said.
According to Ally, Yanga are particularly dangerous in wide areas and the half-spaces, which JKT Tanzania will have to defend effectively if they are to contain their opponents.
He said his team would combine patience, discipline and respect for Yanga while remaining ready to exploit any opportunities that arise.
“We expect a good match. Every minute and every opportunity we get, we will try to use it well. The most important thing is to have the right competitive mentality,” Ally said.
The match promises to be a tactical contest, with Yanga seeking to maintain their momentum while JKT Tanzania look to frustrate the defending giants and secure a positive result.
