Mineral indicative prices for August 17, 2026

The Mining Commission has released new indicative mineral prices for August 17, 2026, showing gold buying centre prices at TZS 331,366.55 per gram, while silver is priced at TZS 4,876.07 per gram.

According to the latest figures issued by the Commission, the world market price for gold stands at USD 4,405.70 per troy ounce, equivalent to TZS 376,552.89 per gram.

The Commission has set the mineral market price for gold at TZS 338,897.60 per gram, while the buying centre price is TZS 331,366.55 per gram.

The figures provide a reference for transactions involving gold and are particularly important to miners and traders seeking to understand prevailing market values.

For silver, the world market price is listed at USD 64.83 per troy ounce, equivalent to TZS 5,540.99 per gram.

The mineral market price is TZS 4,986.89 per gram, while the buying centre price stands at TZS 4,876.07 per gram.

The Commission also released indicative prices for copper, with the world market price standing at USD 6.58 per pound.

The corresponding world market price is TZS 38.56 per gram, while the mineral market price is TZS 34.71 per gram. The buying centre price has been set at TZS 33.94 per gram.

The publication of the indicative prices is significant for Tanzania's mining sector as it gives market participants a reference point when conducting mineral transactions.

The latest figures come as the country continues to strengthen regulation of the mining industry and increase the contribution of minerals to the wider economy.
