The Mining Commission has set the indicative market price for gold at TZS 357,374.84 per gram, according to prices issued for August 27, 2026.
The commission’s latest figures show that the world market price for gold stood at $4,646.50 per troy ounce, equivalent to TZS 397,083.15 per gram.
However, the indicative mineral market price applicable in Tanzania was set at TZS 357,374.84 per gram, while the buying centre price stood at TZS 349,433.17 per gram.
The figures provide a reference point for transactions involving gold produced and traded through Tanzania’s formal mineral trading system.
Meanwhile, the Mining Commission placed the world market price of silver at $69.26 per troy ounce, equivalent to TZS 5,918.86 per gram.
The indicative mineral market price for silver was set at TZS 5,326.97 per gram, while the buying centre price stood at TZS 5,208.60 per gram.
The publication of indicative prices is part of the commission’s role in supporting transparency in the trading of minerals and providing reference prices for market participants.
Gold and silver prices are influenced by movements in international markets, exchange rates and other factors affecting global commodity prices.
The latest figures underscore the continued importance of precious minerals to Tanzania’s mining sector, with gold remaining one of the country’s key mineral exports and a significant source of foreign exchange.
