The Manyara Regional Government and the National Sports Council (NSC) have held talks to assess progress on the construction of a sports development centre, with both sides stressing the need for close cooperation to ensure the project is completed on schedule.
The meeting was chaired by Manyara Acting Regional Administrative Secretary Amos David Machilika and brought together Babati Town Council Director CPA Shaaban A. Mpendu, members of the regional management team and NSC Executive Secretary Neema Msitha.
Held at the Manyara Regional Secretariat’s conference hall, the meeting reviewed the progress made so far in implementing the project, including construction issues and areas requiring coordination between the NSC and the regional authorities.
The facility is part of the Government’s broader efforts to strengthen sports infrastructure and create an enabling environment for identifying, nurturing and developing sporting talent across the country.
For Manyara, the project is expected to provide athletes and young people with improved access to sports facilities, training opportunities and a platform to develop their abilities.
The regional government and the NSC agreed on the importance of maintaining close coordination throughout the implementation of the project to address emerging challenges and support timely completion.
Once operational, the centre is expected to widen opportunities for residents to participate in sports while supporting the development of athletes and sporting talent in the region.
Beyond competition and recreation, the facility could also strengthen the role of sports in youth development, community engagement and the creation of opportunities linked to the growing sports economy.
The meeting underscored the shared responsibility of the NSC and regional authorities in ensuring that the investment delivers practical benefits to athletes and communities in Manyara.
