Mbeya District Commissioner Solomon Itunda has urged Class Seven graduates of St Charles Primary School to use their education to improve their lives, support their families and contribute to Tanzania’s development.
Mr Itunda made the call during the school’s graduation ceremony, where 68 pupils are preparing to complete their primary education.
He commended the school’s management and teachers for preparing the pupils academically and instilling discipline and good values, saying education should go beyond academic achievement to shape responsible and patriotic citizens.
“Your education should be useful to you, your families and the nation. Continue working hard, maintain discipline and remain committed to your studies,” Mr Itunda told the graduates.
He urged the pupils to approach the next stage of their education with determination, saying their performance at primary school should serve as a foundation for greater achievements in secondary education and beyond.
The DC also highlighted the role of parents and guardians in supporting children’s education, saying the success of a pupil depends on cooperation between learners, parents, teachers and school management.
He called on parents to continue providing proper guidance and a supportive home environment to enable their children to pursue their ambitions.
Mr Itunda praised teachers and the school leadership for their contribution to developing pupils academically, morally and socially, saying such efforts are critical to building a skilled and responsible generation.
He also commended President Samia Suluhu Hassan for prioritising education and investing in children and young people, noting that strengthening human capital remains important to Tanzania’s long-term development.
For the graduates, the ceremony marked the beginning of another chapter in their education, with the DC urging them to carry forward the values of discipline, hard work, patriotism and integrity as they pursue their future goals.
