Bukombe Member of Parliament Dr Doto Biteko has praised the government’s efforts to strengthen electricity services, citing the opening of a new Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) office in Bukombe as a sign of continued investment in public infrastructure and service delivery.
Speaking during the inauguration of the district office on August 3, Dr Biteko commended Energy Minister Deogratius Ndejembi and his team for overseeing the implementation of energy projects aimed at expanding access to electricity and improving customer services.
He said the progress being recorded in the sector reflects the government’s commitment to implementing President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s development agenda through investments in energy infrastructure.
“The implementation of these projects demonstrates the government’s determination to improve services and support socio-economic development,” Dr Biteko said.
He also thanked President Samia for allocating development funds that have enabled the execution of major projects across the country, including those designed to improve public services.
According to Dr Biteko, the completion of the new office will provide a better working environment for TANESCO staff while enhancing the utility’s ability to serve customers in Bukombe and neighbouring areas more efficiently.
He urged employees and residents to protect public infrastructure, noting that substantial resources are invested in such projects for the benefit of citizens.
“Public assets must be safeguarded to ensure they continue serving communities for many years,” he said.
Bukombe District Commissioner Eng. Paskasi Muragili said government investment in the energy sector has helped bring services closer to citizens, increase electricity access and support economic growth.
He noted that reliable electricity remains a key driver of industrial development, business expansion and improved living standards.
TANESCO Bukombe District Manager Eng. Valerian Myula said the modern office building was constructed using the utility’s internal resources at a cost of TZS 285 million.
He said the project forms part of TANESCO’s broader strategy to improve operational efficiency and strengthen customer service as demand for electricity continues to grow in the district.
The new facility is expected to support the utility’s expanding operations in Bukombe, where increased electricity access is contributing to economic activities and social development.
