Tanzania and Russia are exploring a partnership to strengthen youth-led investment and entrepreneurship as part of efforts to expand employment opportunities and harness the country's growing human capital.
The discussions took place on Wednesday between the Deputy Minister of State in the President's Office for Planning and Investment, Dr Pius Stephen Chaya, and Leila Zotova Ruslanovna, Deputy Head of Russia's Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh), in Dar es Salaam.
The meeting centred on deepening bilateral cooperation through programmes that would equip young people with the skills, financing opportunities and institutional support needed to develop investment-driven enterprises.
Officials said the proposed collaboration seeks to position young people as a productive economic resource by encouraging innovation, entrepreneurship and investment, while addressing the challenge of youth unemployment.
Dr Chaya said strengthening investment in young people is critical to unlocking Tanzania's demographic dividend and supporting inclusive economic growth.
The two sides also discussed opportunities to develop joint initiatives that would enable Tanzanian youth to design and implement projects with commercial potential, reinforcing the broader economic cooperation between Tanzania and Russia.
The talks reflect Tanzania's continued efforts to attract international partnerships that support youth empowerment, skills development and private sector-led job creation.
