Tanzania has taken another step in expanding employment opportunities for its young population after the government officially sent off 531 youths who secured jobs in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Germany and Bosnia.
The group was sent off on July 30, 2026, in an initiative that highlights growing efforts to link Tanzanian workers with international labour markets while strengthening skills development and youth empowerment.
Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office responsible for Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations, Ms Zuhura Yunus, said the achievement reflects the government’s continued focus on creating pathways for Tanzanians to access employment opportunities both at home and abroad.
She said the progress has been supported by Tanzania’s strengthened international cooperation and deliberate measures to prepare young people with skills that meet the demands of today’s labour market.
Ms Zuhura said internship programmes and apprenticeship training have become important tools in building a workforce equipped with practical experience, professional skills and competitiveness required in the global employment environment.
She urged employers in the public and private sectors to increase opportunities for young people to gain workplace experience, saying practical training remains key in improving employability.
“Providing young people with opportunities to gain practical skills is an important investment that enables them to compete effectively for available jobs locally and internationally,” she said.
The government has been promoting organised labour migration by connecting qualified Tanzanians with overseas employers while ensuring workers receive the necessary preparation before taking up jobs abroad.
The latest group of workers is expected to gain valuable international experience while contributing to Tanzania’s growing pool of skilled professionals and supporting economic development through increased employment opportunities.
The initiative comes as Tanzania continues to prioritise youth employment, skills development and stronger partnerships with other countries to expand opportunities for its workforce.
