Puma Energy Tanzania has been recognised as one of the country's leading corporate taxpayers after winning the Presidential Best Taxpayer Award in the Best Wet Cargo Importer category during the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) 30th anniversary celebrations.

The award highlights the company's strong record of tax compliance and its contribution to domestic revenue collection, reflecting its role in supporting Tanzania's economic growth and development.

The award ceremony was officiated by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who honoured top taxpayers from all 35 regions for their contribution to strengthening government revenue.

Puma Energy Tanzania received its award from Zanzibar President Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi.

Speaking after receiving the award, Puma Energy Tanzania Managing Director Fatma Abdallah said the recognition reflects the company's commitment to transparency, accountability and compliance with Tanzanian laws.

"This award is a great honour for us and encourages us to continue fulfilling our responsibilities with integrity. It reflects the dedication of our employees, our strong partnership with the Government and our commitment to conducting business transparently while fully complying with the country's laws," she said.

She added that paying taxes remains one of the company's key contributions to national development.

"We believe tax compliance plays a vital role in building a stronger economy and improving public services. This recognition motivates us to continue supporting government efforts to increase domestic revenue through timely tax payments, sustainable investments and the expansion of reliable energy services," Abdallah said.

Puma Energy Tanzania said it has contributed more than Sh1.4 trillion in taxes and other government levies over the past three years, making it one of the country's largest taxpayers.

The company has consistently been recognised by TRA for complying with tax regulations and making significant contributions to government revenue.

Beyond taxation, Puma Energy Tanzania continues to expand its investments in energy infrastructure across the country.

Its operations include more than 100 fuel service stations, a major fuel storage terminal and several fuel depots, as well as aviation fuel supply services at eight airports, including all international airports.

The company also operates what it describes as Africa's largest Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Mother Station, while expanding its network of CNG stations in Dar es Salaam and Morogoro to support the country's transition to cleaner energy.

In addition, Puma Energy has expanded its Puma Gas business to increase access to clean cooking energy for households and businesses, while also growing its lubricants business and Shop Express convenience stores.

The company said the latest recognition reinforces its commitment to responsible corporate governance, continued investment in Tanzania's energy sector and support for the Government's agenda of accelerating economic growth through increased domestic revenue and sustainable infrastructure development.
