Mbeya Regional Commissioner (RC) Beno Malisa has called on the management of Iwindi Primary School and residents to protect the newly constructed education facilities, warning that safeguarding public infrastructure is essential to ensuring sustainable delivery of quality education.
Mr Malisa made the remarks on July 24, 2026, during a visit to Mbeya District Council to inspect development projects and assess the delivery of social services in the area.
The RC inspected key facilities at Iwindi Primary School, including classrooms, teachers’ offices and sanitation facilities, commending the progress of the project, which was funded by the government as part of efforts to improve the learning environment for pupils.
He said the investment represented an important contribution to improving education services and urged the community to take ownership of the facilities.
“The project has been implemented well. It is now the responsibility of every citizen to protect this education infrastructure because it is important for the entire community. We should all become ambassadors in protecting these facilities,” Mr Malisa said.
He stressed that government investment in schools can only deliver long-term benefits if communities work together to prevent damage and ensure proper maintenance of the infrastructure.
Speaking on behalf of the Mbeya District Council Executive Director, Acting Executive Director Bosco Komba thanked the Sixth Phase Government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan for providing funds that enabled the construction of the school facilities.
Mr Komba said the council would continue working with community members to ensure the infrastructure is well maintained and contributes to improving education outcomes in the district.
Meanwhile, Iwindi Ward resident Juma Abdallah assured authorities that residents would protect the school facilities, saying the community appreciates the government’s investment in expanding access to better learning environments.
He said the new infrastructure would benefit pupils and future generations, making it necessary for residents to take collective responsibility in preserving it.
