The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has honoured two national youth football teams, Serengeti Boys and Tanzanite Queens, by fulfilling its pledge to reward them for their outstanding achievements in qualifying for major international tournaments.

The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) confirmed that Serengeti Boys have received TZS 500 million, while Tanzanite Queens were awarded TZS 50 million as recognition of their impressive performances and successful qualification campaigns.

TFF Information and Communications Officer Clifford Ndimbo said the federation appreciates the Government’s commitment, describing the support as an important boost to the players and technical teams as they prepare for their international assignments.

“We thank the Government for honouring its promise by providing these funds. We believe the support has increased motivation among players and technical teams as they continue working hard to represent the nation,” Ndimbo said.

The Serengeti Boys made history by qualifying for the FIFA U-17 World Cup finals in Qatar, while also securing a place in the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations (AFCON U-17) finals in Morocco.

Their achievement marks a significant milestone for Tanzania’s youth football development, with the team set to compete against some of the continent’s and world’s best young talents.

For Tanzanite Queens, the qualification for the FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup finals in Poland in September represents another major step forward for women’s football in Tanzania.

The Government’s reward is expected to strengthen preparations for both teams as they aim to make a strong impression on the international stage and continue inspiring the next generation of Tanzanian footballers.
