Defence and National Service Minister Dr Rhimo Nyansaho has called on graduates of the National Defence College (NDC) to apply the strategic knowledge and skills acquired during their training to strengthen defence and security institutions and safeguard Tanzania's national interests.
Dr Nyansaho made the remarks on Thursday while representing President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, at the 14th graduation ceremony of the National Defence College in Kunduchi, Dar es Salaam.
A total of 72 participants from Tanzania and several other countries graduated after completing an advanced programme in defence and security strategy aimed at preparing senior leaders for strategic decision-making in national and regional security.
Delivering the President's message, Dr Nyansaho said maintaining peace, security and stability is a shared responsibility that extends beyond the security forces to every citizen.
He said protecting the country's borders, natural resources and national interests requires cooperation among all Tanzanians, noting that peace and stability remain the foundation for sustainable development.
The minister urged the graduates to demonstrate professionalism, integrity and patriotism in their respective assignments, saying the expertise gained during the course should be used to improve defence and security systems while addressing emerging security challenges.
He also emphasised the importance of safeguarding the country's strategic resources and national interests for the benefit of current and future generations.
The National Defence College offers advanced strategic education to senior military officers and civilian leaders from Tanzania and partner countries, with the aim of strengthening leadership capacity and promoting regional cooperation on defence and security matters.
