The Dar es Salaam Regional Administration is set to launch a special campaign offering free health clinics across the region as part of ongoing efforts to encourage citizens to know their health status and seek timely medical care.

The announcement was made today, July 2, 2026, by the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Hon. Albert Chalamila, who said the initiative is a continuation of efforts aimed at promoting a culture of regular health check-ups among Tanzanians.

According to the Regional Commissioner, the campaign will involve healthcare professionals from various levels of the health system, ranging from health centres within local government authorities to regional medical specialists, with the objective of bringing essential healthcare services closer to the people.

"This campaign seeks to empower citizens to understand their health conditions and to encourage early diagnosis and prevention of diseases," said Chalamila.

The free health clinics will feature specialist healthcare professionals in a wide range of medical fields, including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, diabetes, and other communicable and non-communicable diseases.

Chalamila further called upon residents of Dar es Salaam to take advantage of the opportunity by turning out in large numbers to access the services, emphasizing that good health remains the foundation of individual well-being, family prosperity and national development.

The campaign is expected to run for five days, from July 3 to July 8, 2026, and will be conducted in phases across different districts of the Dar es Salaam Region. During the campaign, residents will receive free medical consultations, screenings, health education and professional advice.

From a social perspective, the initiative represents an important step toward strengthening public health awareness and fostering a preventive healthcare culture within communities. As the burden of non-communicable diseases continues to rise, early detection and regular health screenings have become increasingly essential in reducing morbidity and preventing avoidable deaths.

The campaign is also expected to ease the financial burden associated with medical examinations for many citizens, particularly vulnerable groups that may have limited access to healthcare services. By bringing medical professionals directly to communities, the initiative will contribute to reducing health inequalities and improving access to quality healthcare.

Furthermore, the campaign reflects the Government's broader commitment to ensuring that healthcare services are accessible, inclusive and people-centred. It also highlights the importance of collective efforts between government institutions, healthcare providers and the public in building a healthier and more resilient society.

Ultimately, the free health clinic campaign demonstrates the Dar es Salaam Region's commitment to promoting preventive healthcare and investing in the well-being of its people, recognizing that a healthy population is an indispensable pillar for sustainable social and economic development.
