The Zanzibar government has pledged to further strengthen its partnership with CRDB Bank to support the implementation of strategic development projects aimed at improving public services and creating more economic opportunities for citizens.
President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, said the government recognises the important role played by CRDB in supporting development initiatives, including the construction of schools, housing projects, agricultural programmes and expanding access to finance for citizens.
Dr Mwinyi made the remarks on July 14, 2026, when he met CRDB Bank’s Board of Directors and senior management at State House Zanzibar.
He said continued collaboration with the bank would help accelerate projects that directly benefit wananchi while supporting government efforts to improve living standards and promote inclusive economic growth.
“Strong cooperation between the government and financial institutions is essential in ensuring that development projects are implemented effectively and that citizens have greater access to opportunities,” Dr Mwinyi said.
The President also commended CRDB for providing loans to small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, saying the support has helped many businesses grow, create jobs and contribute to the wider economy.
He further praised the bank for supporting capacity building among public sector officials and assisting the government in accessing financing from international financial institutions to implement key projects.
CRDB Board Chairperson Prof Neema Munisi Mori said the bank remains committed to working with the Zanzibar government in financing development projects and supporting programmes that empower youth, women and entrepreneurs.
CRDB Managing Director Dr Abdulmajid Mussa Nsekela said the bank appreciates the progress made by the Zanzibar government and welcomed measures taken to improve management of strategic project financing, including the establishment of a dedicated account for loan repayments.
He said such initiatives have strengthened confidence among financial institutions and created a better environment for continued investment and development partnerships.
The continued cooperation between Zanzibar and CRDB is expected to enhance access to financial services, support business growth and contribute to the implementation of projects that improve the welfare of citizens across the islands.
