The Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) and Sahara Ventures, through its subsidiary Sahara Consultants, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening the use of technology in the education sector, particularly within the country's primary education system.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, the Director General of the Tanzania Institute of Education, Ms. Aneth Komba, said the partnership seeks to enhance the integration of educational technology to improve teaching and learning in primary schools across the country.

Ms. Komba noted that the agreement comes at a timely moment as the institute continues to implement various reforms aimed at modernising the education sector and ensuring that Tanzania's education system keeps pace with global technological advancements.

"This partnership comes at a crucial time when we are undertaking several reforms in the education sector. We believe that the use of technology will significantly contribute to improving the quality of education and equipping students with the skills needed in today's digital world," she said.

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of Sahara Ventures, Jumanne Mtambalike, said the company's priority is to see how technology can transform education in Tanzania by making it more innovative, inclusive, and responsive to the demands of the 21st century.

He explained that through the partnership, Sahara Ventures intends to collaborate with the Tanzania Institute of Education in designing and implementing technological solutions that will improve teaching and learning environments.

"Our goal is to see how technology can transform education in Tanzania and ensure that technology works hand in hand with the education system to deliver positive outcomes for teachers, students, and all education stakeholders," said Mtambalike.

The agreement is expected to open a new chapter of collaboration between the public and private sectors in advancing educational technology, a move that is anticipated to accelerate digital transformation and enhance the quality of education in Tanzania.
