Tanzania’s international wheelchair tennis player, Voster Isaya Lengonela, has left the country today, June 26, 2026, to compete in two consecutive International Tennis Federation (ITF) sanctioned tournaments set to be held in Polokwane, South Africa.

Lengonela will feature in the Polokwane 1 and Polokwane 2 Wheelchair Tennis International Events, which are expected to attract highly ranked players from different countries competing for valuable world ranking points and international recognition.

The Polokwane 1 tournament will be staged from June 26 to June 30, 2026, followed immediately by Polokwane 2, scheduled from July 1 to July 4, 2026.

Both competitions form part of the ITF international wheelchair tennis circuit, which plays a key role in shaping global rankings and providing athletes with exposure to high-level competition.

The tournaments will offer Lengonela an opportunity to test his skills against some of the best wheelchair tennis players on the continent and beyond, while also aiming to improve his international ranking through the accumulation of crucial points.

Over the years, Lengonela has steadily established himself as one of Tanzania’s leading wheelchair tennis athletes, representing the country in various international competitions and earning recognition for his commitment and performance in the sport.

His participation in the South African events is also seen as part of his continued preparation to strengthen his competitiveness and maintain Tanzania’s presence in international wheelchair tennis.

He departed with determination and optimism, aiming to deliver strong performances across both tournaments and further elevate Tanzania’s profile in para-sports on the global stage.
