Tanzania and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cultural, educational and diplomatic cooperation following a high-level meeting in Paris between Tanzania’s Ambassador to France, Saidi Othman Yakubu, and UAE Minister of Culture Sheikh Salem bin Khaled Al Qassimi.

The meeting took place during Sheikh Salem’s special visit to the Tanzanian Embassy in the French capital, underscoring the growing partnership between the two nations beyond traditional economic and trade relations.

Discussions focused on expanding collaboration in culture, education, science, innovation and the preservation of world heritage, as well as enhancing cooperation through international institutions, including UNESCO.

Ambassador Yakubu said Tanzania and the UAE continue to enjoy strong and friendly relations founded on mutual respect, economic cooperation and a shared vision for sustainable development.

He noted that cultural diplomacy remains an important pillar in strengthening ties between the people of the two countries.

He also reiterated Tanzania’s commitment to broadening cooperation with the Gulf nation through knowledge exchange, cultural initiatives and institutional partnerships that can support national development goals.

Sheikh Salem, who also chairs the UAE National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, expressed his country’s readiness to deepen engagement with Tanzania in education, culture and scientific research.

He also emphasized the importance of closer diplomatic coordination on international platforms to address shared global challenges and opportunities.

The two leaders agreed to promote stronger institutional links and sustained dialogue between relevant agencies in both countries.

Their discussions highlighted the importance of people-to-people connections, cultural heritage preservation and international cooperation in advancing peace, mutual understanding and development.

The visit comes amid rapidly expanding relations between Tanzania and the UAE, which have in recent years strengthened cooperation across a range of sectors, including trade, investment, infrastructure, tourism and logistics.

Analysts view the growing engagement as part of broader efforts by both countries to diversify bilateral cooperation and unlock new opportunities in knowledge-sharing, cultural exchange and human capital development.

The meeting in Paris reflects the increasing importance that both Tanzania and the UAE attach to cultural diplomacy as a tool for fostering stronger international partnerships and promoting shared prosperity.
