Simba SC moved to the top of the NBC Premier League standings after a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Mbeya City FC at the Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya.

The win lifted Simba SC to 64 points, pushing them ahead of their main rivals Yanga SC, who now sit second with 63 points, intensifying the title race as the season nears its climax.

The only goal of the match came in the 44th minute through striker Elie Mpanzu, who capitalised on sustained pressure from Simba SC’s attacking play. The goal gave Simba a crucial lead just before half-time after a closely contested opening period.

Simba SC went into the break leading 1-0, having controlled much of the first half with steady possession and repeated attacks that kept Mbeya City’s defence under pressure.

In the second half, both teams returned with clear intentions. Mbeya City pushed forward in search of an equaliser, while Simba SC looked to extend their lead and secure the result. Despite efforts from both sides, neither team managed to change the scoreline.

The match ended after 90 minutes with Simba SC securing an important away victory, strengthening their position in the title race and increasing pressure on their closest challengers in the final stages of the league season.
