Preparations for the Emergency Council Meeting of the Tanzania Public Institutions, State Corporations and Private Companies Sports Association (SHIMMUTA) have entered the final stages in Njombe Region ahead of the gathering scheduled for June 26, 2026.

The meeting, to be held at the Njombe Regional Commissioner's Office, is expected to bring together members of SHIMMUTA's Executive Council to deliberate on strategic matters aimed at strengthening the federation and enhancing its role in promoting sports across public institutions, state-owned enterprises and private companies.

SHIMMUTA Secretary General Maswet Masinda said the key agenda of the meeting will be the discussion of proposed amendments to the federation's constitution, which are intended to align its governance framework with emerging developments and the evolving needs of sports administration in the country.

According to Mr Masinda, council members will be given an opportunity to scrutinise the proposals in depth before making decisions that could shape the future direction of the federation.

"The preparations are progressing smoothly and we are confident that all arrangements will be completed on time. This is an important meeting for the future of SHIMMUTA and we expect active participation from all council members," he said.

He noted that the proposed constitutional reforms are aimed at improving institutional efficiency, strengthening accountability and enhancing the federation's ability to serve its members more effectively.

Mr Masinda also called on all delegates to observe the meeting schedule and arrive on time to facilitate productive deliberations and ensure that all planned agenda items are successfully addressed.

The emergency council meeting comes at a time when SHIMMUTA is seeking to strengthen its operational framework and expand opportunities for sports development among employees in public institutions, government agencies and private sector organisations.

Established to promote sports, physical fitness and social interaction in workplaces, SHIMMUTA remains one of Tanzania's key platforms for fostering unity, teamwork and healthy lifestyles through organised sporting activities.
